We do not publish prices, and any supplier who quotes you a figure without asking about your cell is quoting a different cell. What we can do is set out what actually moves the number, so you can judge a quotation — ours or anyone else’s — and work out where a cheaper option is genuinely cheaper.
What drives the cost
Media count and cross-section
The single biggest factor. Every conductor and hose adds material, adds diameter, and pushes the whole package into a larger corrugated tube and larger supports. A weld pack carrying primary current, coolant and control is a different object from a handling pack carrying air and signal.
Torsion duty
Cable rated for torsion costs more than cable rated only for bending. On the wrist axes there is no sensible way around it — this is the specification that decides service life, and saving here is the most expensive saving available. See routing rules.
Environment
Heat, spatter, coolant and washdown all add protection, and protection is consumable. A weld cell pack costs more to buy and more to keep, because the leather sleeving is meant to be replaced.
Retraction
Whether the motion needs a retraction system, and which one. A fail-safe spring system in a closed chamber is a different cost from a profile-based one, and both are a different cost from no retraction at all.
Engineering content
A standard cell needs less design work than a C-frame rivet tool reaching around a part. Simulation and design time is real cost, and it is the part that a catalogue supplier does not charge for because they do not do it.
Quantity and standardisation
Ten identical cells cost less per cell than ten different ones. If you are specifying a new line, standardising the packs across it is the largest single saving available to you, and it is free at design stage.
Where cheap is genuinely cheaper
If your cells are standard, the media count is low, the environment is benign and you are happy to specify yourself, a catalogue system is a legitimate saving and we will tell you so — see the supplier comparison. Becker is not the cheapest option and does not try to be.
Where cheap gets expensive
The cost of a dress pack is small next to the cost of the line it stops. Under-specifying torsion, skipping the simulation, or clamping a bundle with one ring instead of per-core rings all save money at purchase and spend it again at the first unplanned stop — usually several times over. The arithmetic is on the cost of cable-related downtime.
Getting a number
Send the robot model, the tool, the media list, the cycle and the environment. That is enough for a real quotation rather than a placeholder. Request a quote.
