Application · Arc Welding
Energy supply engineered for Arc Welding.
Dress packs, cables and media management engineered — and validated — for the specific demands of Arc Welding applications.
Arc welding puts a different load on the dress pack than spot welding. The current is lower but the duty is continuous, the torch needs shielding gas and wire feed as well as power, and the spatter is finer, hotter and lands everywhere. A pack that survives a spot cell can still be consumed in an arc cell within months.
What the application demands
- Wire feed and shielding gas routed so that neither is kinked or stretched through the work envelope
- Hoses rated for continuous spatter contact rather than occasional exposure
- Torsion capacity on the wrist axes, where arc welding paths twist more than they bend
- Clean separation of power, signal and gas so that arc noise does not reach the sensor lines
- Consumable protection that can be replaced without unbuilding the pack
How Becker builds for it
Spatter-resistant materials
The PUR hose program includes welding-spatter-resistant push-in hose rated UL94 V0 to V2 and specified from −35 to +90 °C. It is the same material family used for the cooling and air circuits, so one hose type covers the cell rather than three.
Protection where the arc is
Leather sleeves shield the sections closest to the torch and are treated as consumables: they are replaced on a schedule, which keeps the cable package underneath at full service life instead of being replaced with them.
Signal integrity
Connectronix data and sensor cables are built on a TPU jacket rated −40 to +80 °C with IP67 performance when mated, tested to five million bend cycles at twelve times the outer diameter and one million torsion cycles. In a cell where the torch position is closed-loop, that is what keeps the feedback honest.
Programming
Becker’s robot programming service covers MIG and MAG welding offline, so weave patterns and approach angles are proven in simulation rather than on the part.
