Application · Stud Welding
Energy supply engineered for Stud Welding.
Dress packs, cables and media management engineered — and validated — for the specific demands of Stud Welding applications.
Stud welding is a feed problem before it is a welding problem. The gun needs power, control and a reliable supply of studs arriving one at a time, and the feed hose is the part that decides whether the cell runs a shift without intervention. A stud that jams in the hose stops the line just as effectively as a failed cable.
What the application demands
- Feed hose routed with consistent radii so studs do not stall or tumble
- Power and control cabling sized for the gun and kept clear of the feed line
- A package that tolerates the short, fast moves typical of a stud pattern
- Protection at the gun end, where spatter and heat concentrate
- Feed and power replaceable independently of each other
How Becker builds for it
Feed routing
The feed line is treated as a process component, not as another hose in the bundle. Radii are set so the stud keeps its orientation the whole way, and the line is clamped so that robot motion does not change those radii mid-cycle. Where the feed shares the pack with power and control, it is separated and strain-relieved on its own path.
The gun end
Axis-6 brackets are specified per robot flange so the gun interface repeats. Protection sleeving covers the last section, and clamping rings hold each core at its own diameter rather than compressing the whole bundle.
Feeders
Becker builds dress packs for stud welding cells using the established feeder and gun systems in automotive production, including Stanley and Nelson equipment, so the interfaces and the hose specifications are known quantities.
When the cell also spot welds
Many body shop cells stud weld and spot weld on the same robot or adjacent ones. Specifying both packs together means the spares, the corrugated tube sizes and the clamping rings are common across the cell rather than two separate inventories. See spot welding.
