Application · Screwdriving & Flow Drill Screwing
Energy supply engineered for Screwdriving & Flow Drill Screwing.
Dress packs, cables and media management engineered — and validated — for the specific demands of Screwdriving & Flow Drill Screwing applications.
Robotic screwdriving covers two quite different jobs: nut running to a torque specification, and flow drill screwing, which drives a screw through sheet that has no pre-drilled hole. Both need a fastener feed that keeps working, and both put torque reaction into a tool the robot has to hold steady.
What the application demands
- Fastener feed hose routed so screws arrive oriented and on time
- Power and control to the spindle, sized for the torque and the duty
- Data back from the tool — torque and angle results are quality records, not diagnostics
- Routing that absorbs torque reaction without transmitting it into the cable package
- Feed line serviceable on its own, because it is what wears
How Becker builds for it
Feed that keeps its shape
The feed line is routed with controlled radii and clamped so that robot motion does not change them. Spring-wire reinforced and lined hose from the same program used for rivet feed keeps the bore consistent, which is what stops screws stalling on the way to the spindle.
Torque and data
Nut running and flow drill screwing both produce a result per fastener that has to reach the plant systems. Those run on Connectronix data cable rated for five million bend cycles, so the traceability record does not start dropping out before the mechanical parts wear.
Systems we dress for
Becker builds packs for flow drill screw systems including Klingel and Weber equipment, and for nut running systems including Atlas Copco — the interfaces, feed sizes and mounting arrangements are established.
Flow drill screwing and mixed materials
Flow drill screwing exists because mixed-material bodies cannot always be welded. It therefore appears in the same cells as self-piercing rivets and structural adhesive, and the three are best specified as one cable-management scope.
