Custom Plastic Injection Molding
Tooling made elsewhere is tooling you cannot chase. Becker Robotic designs and cuts its own molds in-house, which is why a mold design can be ready in one to two weeks rather than a quarter, and why a design change does not restart a queue in someone else’s workshop.
Molding technology
Molds are produced using EDM and CNC machining. EDM cuts the intricate features a rotating cutter cannot reach — sharp internal corners, deep ribs, fine detail. CNC takes out the bulk geometry to tolerance. CAM software drives both from the same model, so what was designed is what gets cut.
Prototype molding
For projects that need tooling quickly at limited volume. Prototype tooling lets a part be validated in the real material and the real process — with the shrinkage, the weld lines and the gate marks a production part will actually have — before anyone commits to production tooling.
In the 10,000 to 50,000 piece range, prototype tooling generally makes more sense than additive manufacturing: the parts are the production material, and the per-part time does not scale with volume the way printing does.
Production injection molding
Production molding for parts at scale, with consistent wall sections and repeatable shot-to-shot quality across a range of materials, colours and finishes. Runs are scheduled on demand rather than held to a minimum-order calendar, and every project has a named project manager rather than a ticket queue.
What we mold
Housings, clamps, brackets, cable guides, retainers and the enclosure parts that go into robotic energy supply systems — plus custom parts for customers who need a molder who will also engineer the part rather than only reproduce it.
From part design to first shot
- Part review for moldability — draft, wall section, gating and knit lines
- Mold design, cut in-house on EDM and CNC
- First-article samples in the production material
- Dimensional inspection against the drawing
- Production runs, scheduled to your release
