Kyokutoh is the name most often reached for in tip conditioning, and with reason. If you are comparing them with Becker, here is the honest version.
What Kyokutoh offers
Kyokutoh is a Japanese specialist in tip dressing and cap changing for resistance spot welding in automotive body construction. Their published range covers tip dressers including swing-arm and manual versions, tip changers, combined dresser/changer units, and the milling tools that go in them. They describe themselves as one of the market leaders in the field and supply internationally.
Tip conditioning is what they do. That focus is a real strength.
Where Kyokutoh is ahead
- Depth in one discipline. A specialist range built around tip dressing and cap changing, with milling tools for standard and special applications.
- Recognition. In many plants Kyokutoh is the incumbent, which means existing spares, familiar procedures and trained maintenance staff.
- Automotive pedigree. Long-established in car body construction, the same application these systems are judged in.
Where Becker is ahead
- One supplier for the whole gun. Becker supplies the dress pack, the cables and hoses, the coolant control and the tip conditioning for the same welding cell. Tip dressing is part of a cell package rather than a separate purchase from a separate vendor with separate spares.
- Cap inspection and monitoring in the same system. The ATCS family includes optical cap inspection alongside dressing and changing, so the result is verified rather than assumed.
- Robot-brand independence with matched energy supply. The same engineering that routes the cables to the gun specifies the dressing equipment the gun presents to.
- Regional stock and service. Production in Germany, the USA, Mexico, India and China, with consumables shipped from regional stock.
Honest summary
If tip conditioning is the only thing you are buying, and Kyokutoh is already in the plant with spares on the shelf and staff who know it, there is no strong argument to change. We will say that plainly.
The case for Becker is a cell-level one. When the dress pack, the cables, the coolant control and the tip conditioning come from one supplier, one engineering team owns how they interact, one spares list covers the cell, and one number gets called when something stops. That matters most on new lines, on retrofits where the energy supply is being replaced anyway, and where you are already tired of coordinating four vendors around one gun.
Becker is not the cheapest option and does not try to be.
